Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has emphasized the need for renewed collaboration between Türkiye and the United States, highlighting its importance amidst global conflicts and crises. Speaking at the “100 Years of Friendship Gala” in New York, Erdoğan underscored the positive outcomes of the partnership between the two NATO allies, particularly in the Middle East.
Erdoğan called for expanding cooperation in sectors such as nuclear energy, liquefied natural gas, civil aviation, high technology, and the defense industry. He stressed the need to eliminate barriers and enhance opportunities for joint defense production, underlining Türkiye’s ambition to become one of the top 10 defense exporters globally. The country’s defense exports have surged from approximately $248 million two decades ago to over $10 billion today.
The Turkish president also encouraged U.S. investors to explore the economic opportunities in Türkiye, highlighting new incentives designed to attract foreign investment. He announced Ankara’s plans to launch an investment drive with a competitive incentive framework to bolster economic ties.
During the event, U.S. Senator Chris Coons praised the enduring partnership between the United States and Türkiye, stressing the significance of business ties and entrepreneurship in strengthening bilateral relations. The gathering included senior officials and business leaders from both nations, celebrating the long-standing diplomatic and economic connections.
