Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is scheduled to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump in New York next week during the United Nations General Assembly, as confirmed by U.S. Ambassador to Ankara Tom Barrack. This meeting offers a platform for the leaders to address bilateral relations and significant regional concerns.
The encounter will occur against the backdrop of the 81st United Nations General Assembly, taking place from September 22 to September 28. This annual gathering is expected to see world leaders engage in discussions on pressing international security and humanitarian matters, including ongoing conflicts in Gaza and Ukraine, as well as situations in Iran, Sudan, Myanmar, Haiti, and Cyprus.
The last meeting between Erdoğan and Trump was during the NATO summit held in Ankara in July. Their discussions focused on the future of the alliance, regional security, and current international conflicts, reflecting strengthened ties between Washington and Ankara during Trump’s second term.
Previously, Erdoğan visited the White House in September 2025, marking his first trip to Washington in six years, which underscores the significance of the upcoming talks in New York.
