The central bank reserves of Türkiye have experienced a significant increase, surging by nearly $40 billion since late June. This boost has brought the reserves to their highest point in approximately five months. Specifically, the reserves of the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT) are estimated to have risen by $5.3 billion in the week ending August 21, reaching around $188.8 billion, compared to $183.5 billion the previous week.
By June 26, the reserves had dipped to approximately $149.2 billion. However, a robust recovery commenced thereafter, with the reserves climbing to $164.4 billion by the end of July. This upward trend persisted throughout August, marking a significant turnaround.
The latest increase, estimated at about $39.6 billion above the June low, places the reserves at their highest level since March 13. This growth underscores a strong recovery trajectory for Türkiye’s central bank reserves.
Official figures for the reserves as of the week ending August 21 are anticipated to be released on Thursday, providing a definitive account of the recent financial developments.
