Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is set to visit the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for discussions centered on regional security issues, including the war involving Iran and developments in Gaza and Lebanon. This visit marks Fidan’s second trip to the UAE since March and underscores the ongoing diplomatic engagement between the two nations.
During the talks, Fidan is expected to emphasize the necessity of enhanced regional cooperation to address conflicts and mitigate external interventions. A key topic on the agenda will be ensuring the freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, crucial maritime routes for regional and international trade.
The discussions are likely to include preparations for the upcoming meeting of the Türkiye-UAE High-Level Strategic Council. Since 2023, Türkiye and the UAE have maintained a Strategic Partnership, and the Council convened its first leaders’ meeting in Ankara in July 2025.
Developments in Gaza will also be a focal point, with talks on implementing the second phase of the peace plan, providing humanitarian assistance, and supporting reconstruction efforts. Both Türkiye and the UAE are founding members of the Board of Peace and are expected to coordinate closely on its initiatives.
Efforts to sustain ceasefires in Gaza and Lebanon and bolster regional stability are also anticipated to be discussed. The strategic partnership between Türkiye and the UAE has seen significant bilateral trade, with figures reaching $19.346 billion in 2025, establishing the UAE as Türkiye’s largest trading partner in the Gulf.
