Türkiye’s pioneering high school focused on renewable energy, Cezeri Green Technology Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, has achieved international recognition by being shortlisted as a finalist for the World’s Best School Prizes. This prestigious awards program celebrates schools for their innovative approaches and significant contributions to society and the environment. Based in Ankara and founded in 2017, the school has secured its place among the top 10 global finalists in the Environmental Action category.

At the core of the school’s curriculum is the integration of renewable energy systems, which provides students with hands-on experience in working with actual energy systems and analyzing energy data. The educational programs are designed to address crucial issues such as reducing carbon emissions, enhancing energy efficiency, and advocating for zero-waste practices. One notable project, the Energy Detectives Project, engages middle school students by educating them about carbon footprints, energy conservation, and waste reduction. Through this initiative, students actively monitor the energy and water consumption at their schools and strive to decrease it.

Beyond its core curriculum, the high school has made significant contributions to disaster relief efforts. It has developed an energy bank that supplies electricity to temporary shelters in the aftermath of earthquakes, showcasing its commitment to practical applications of renewable energy technology in critical scenarios. This initiative underscores the school’s dedication to blending education with real-world impact.

Collaboration with Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University further enhances the school’s offerings by providing students with practical training and access to laboratory resources. This partnership enriches the educational experience, ensuring that students receive comprehensive support in their academic and technical pursuits.

Organized by T4 Education, the World’s Best School Prizes encompass five categories, celebrating excellence in educational innovation worldwide. The public can participate in the international voting process for this year’s finalists, with voting open until the end of October. As the competition progresses, Cezeri Green Technology Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School stands out as a beacon of environmental education and innovation.
