For the first time, Türkiye’s defense and aerospace exports have surpassed the $11 billion mark over a 12-month period, signifying a major achievement for the nation’s defense industry. In June alone, exports in the sector reached $802.8 million, reflecting a 29.6% increase compared to the same month the previous year. Over the first six months of the year, the exports saw a 29.5% year-on-year rise, totaling $4.67 billion.
Haluk Görgün, the President of the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB), highlighted that this growth is indicative of a rising global interest in Turkish defense products. He attributed this success to the expansion of Türkiye’s defense manufacturing ecosystem, which has bolstered the country’s capability to fulfill international demand. Görgün also pointed out that Turkish defense systems have proven their effectiveness in real-world scenarios, aiding the establishment of sustainable international partnerships.
Over the past two decades, Türkiye has made significant strides in developing its domestic defense industry, aiming to minimize its dependency on foreign military equipment. This strategy has seen the country evolve into a prominent exporter on the global stage. As of now, Türkiye exports over 230 defense products to 185 countries worldwide.
The nation is not just content with its current achievements; it aspires to secure a position among the top 10 defense exporters globally. This ambitious goal underscores Türkiye’s commitment to further strengthening its capabilities and influence in the international defense market.
