Türkiye and China are strengthening their bilateral ties as they celebrate 55 years of diplomatic relations, with expanded cooperation in trade, technology, energy, and regional matters. Türkiye’s Ambassador to China, Selçuk Ünal, highlighted the historical foundation of their relationship, tracing back to the Silk Road era, which facilitated trade and cultural exchanges between the two nations.
Diplomatic ties between Türkiye and China were officially established in 1971, and since then, their relationship has grown significantly. China has ascended to become Türkiye’s largest trading partner, with annual trade volumes exceeding $50 billion. Enhanced connectivity is evident in the increased frequency of passenger and cargo flights connecting major cities in both countries, while Türkiye has also broadened its diplomatic footprint in China through several consulates and boosted economic engagements.
The ambassador pointed out the aim of both nations to bolster cooperation in crucial sectors such as artificial intelligence, green energy, infrastructure, and commerce. Ünal emphasized that Türkiye and China often share similar perspectives on international and regional issues, focusing on peace, stability, and development, with a common effort to prevent conflicts.
Under the strategic guidance of their leaders, Türkiye and China are committed to advancing their partnership with a focus on long-term economic growth and regional collaboration. This shared vision underscores the importance both countries place on their diplomatic relationship, as they look to the future with a plan to enhance and expand their cooperation across various fields.
